Frequently Asked Questions...

When and where did Ellel Ministries begin?

The work of Ellel Ministries officially began in the North West of England on October 31st, 1986. You can read more about the history of the work here.

What does the name ‘Ellel’ mean?

Ellel Ministries takes its name from the place where the work started - Ellel Grange - which is in the village of Ellel in Lancashire, England. The name Ellel in old English means 'all hail', which means 'all glory to God'.
In Hebrew Ellel means 'towards God'. In Mandarin it means 'love flowing outwards'. So Ellel could be said to mean 'All hail Jesus, all glory to Him' and be expressed as 'love flowing outwards' into a fallen and broken world, where we are helping people move 'towards God'. We thought it was a name worth keeping!

In a nutshell, what do you do?

Basically, Ellel Ministries exists to help people move on with the Lord to a deeper place of healing and relationship with Him, so that they can know Him in a deeper way, and begin to fulfill the plan that God has for them. This is achieved in two ways. Firstly, by offering prayer ministry to those in need and secondly by conducting training events so that people can gain understanding and be equipped to help others in their own local areas. You can find out a lot more information in the Training and Ministry section of the site.

What is prayer ministry?

At most Ellel events we offer time for response when delegates can choose to come and receive prayer ministry. This involves one or more of the prayer ministry team partnering with the delegate in seeking God for healing and freedom related to specific issues and problems in their life. There will be some time of talking together and some time of praying together. You can read more about the prayer ministry team, who they are and what they do here.

What do you mean when you say you are involved in healing?

A simple definition of healing would be the restoration of God's order in a person's life. It is clear that there are many people, even within the Church, who have areas of their lives which are out of order and that these issues hold them back from living the abundant life that Jesus won for them on the cross. We believe that God is the same today as He has always been and that He desires to bring healing and restoration into the lives of those in need. We also believe that discipleship and healing go hand in hand and that part of the process of receiving God’s healing is often dealing with the discipleship issues in our lives.

What is your basis of faith?

As a Christian ministry, our basis of faith is as follows: God is a trinity. God the Father loves all people. God the Son, Jesus Christ, is Saviour, Healer, Lord and King. God the Holy Spirit indwells Christians and imparts the dynamic power by which they are enabled to continue Christ’s ministry. The Bible is the divinely inspired authority in matters of faith, doctrine and conduct, and the basis for teaching.

Are you a church and, if so, what denomination are you?

Ellel Ministries is not a church and we encourage all of our team members to be involved in local churches as they are able. We are a non-denominational organization and we exist to be a help and resource to the local church. We do this by helping those who are in need as well as helping to train prayer ministry teams and church leaders.

How is Ellel Ministries supported?

Ellel Ministries is a non-profit organisation. We give away prayer ministry for free but charge for teaching and training. This has been the policy since the foundation of the work.
In order that the teaching can be made available to as many people as possible, the prices for courses and schools are considerably lower than the real costs. Therefore, we earn about half of the income needed to meet our costs from courses, schools and bookshop sales. We rely on donation income to 'balance the books' and help support building projects, sponsored students, running our centres and a variety of other costs. If you would like to partner with us in this work, you can make an online donation here.
