The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Anchored on the Rock

by Tanya Person

As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built
Luke 6:47-48, NIV

We were touring in the Black Forest recently, and two different trees in two different areas caught my eye. The first one was growing straight and tall, and several big boulders looked like they had slid down the hillside behind the tree, but the tree held fast and stopped the rock slide. In another place, there was a tree that had been blown over in a storm. In the roots of the tree, which were up in the air, were some small rocks that were tightly held in the roots.

These trees made me think about how important it is to have our foundation firmly rooted on Jesus as the rock. Sometimes we may hold on to lesser things, thinking that our security lies in them, but when a storm hits us, these things don’t hold, and we can be knocked off balance, still holding on to the things that we thought were important. If our foundation is in Jesus, then no matter what storms hit us, we will be able to stand firm.

So how do we make sure we are firmly rooted on the rock? In today’s verse, Jesus tells us we need to read God’s word and put it into practice. Let me encourage you today to read God’s word, meditate on it, and apply it to your life.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are a firm foundation for me. Please teach me Your truth and help me to stay rooted in You. Amen.
