The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

You Are God’s Very Own

by Pam Smith

You are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, You are God’s very own – all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9, TLB

Sometimes we don`t believe that we can change, but we have changed. God’s Word says so. In God’s eyes we are changed. ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things are passed away, behold all things have become new’ (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are in a new kingdom now, it’s very different from the old one. We are His sons and daughters. We have his spiritual DNA. We don’t want circumstances to determine our lives, we want God’s Word to determine them, so when He says ‘YOU ARE’ in scripture, we know it is the truth, and we can underline it.

It’s wonderful when we are affirmed and praised through life but sometimes
people like parents, friends, relatives or teachers, may have said things that make us feel worthless, insignificant, unlovable, or a failure. Such things stick in our minds and we believe them and the devil adds his pennyworth too.

But God says, ‘For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours’ (Isaiah 55:9). When we are in His Kingdom, through His Spirit, we have the mind of Christ and He teaches us to walk in His ways. Our thoughts determine what we think about ourselves, but not what we are. Let’s believe what God’s Word says we are.

‘For YOU ARE all children of the light and of the day and do not belong to the darkness and the night’ (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

‘Now therefore, YOU ARE no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God’ (Ephesians 2:19).

‘For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and YOU ARE complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power’ (Colossians 2:9-10).

‘But YOU ARE a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light’ (1 Peter 2:9).

‘But of Him YOU ARE in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, - and
righteousness, sanctification and redemption’
(1 Corinthians 1:30).

‘Do not fear therefore; YOU ARE of more value than many sparrows’ (Matthew 10:31).

I have called you by name. YOU ARE MINE’ (Isaiah 43:1).

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to know that we are ‘accepted in the Beloved’ and are Your very own, adopted into Your family, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
