What Should I Do?

Recently I was looking at the dramatic conversion Saul had when he was on his way to Damascus. Saul was angry and wanted to threaten and even murder anyone who was preaching salvation and the way of the cross to the Jewish people.
Jesus then met with Saul along the road to Damascus, revealing Himself to him and pointing out to him how difficult it is to go against His ways saying, “It is hard for you to kick against the goads”.
Saul, fearful and trembling, then asks the question, “Lord what do You want me to do?” Jesus tells him to go into the city and wait and that’s where He would tell him what to do. Saul was blinded and needed help from the others to get there.
This started to make me ponder and think about all those who come into God’s Kingdom. This should really be the first question they should ask, “Lord what do You want me to do?” Then they should wait for His answer. But I wonder how many people in the body of Christ have come into God’s kingdom and just continued in their normal way, not really asking the question of what the Lord has for them and for their life.
In Jeremiah 29:11-13, we read that God has a plan for His people’s future, to bring them peace and not to harm them, but they do need to search for Him with all their heart. We can apply this word to our own lives too. This is what Saul did. Jesus told Saul to go and wait in the city, where He would reveal exactly what it was that he was to do.
Maybe today, as you ponder on this scripture, you have never really asked the question for your own life, “Lord what do You want me to do?” Perhaps you could take a few moments to seek Him. Ask Him and then wait upon Him to hear what it is He is saying to you, for today or for the future.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You that You have a plan and purpose for me, a plan to bring me peace and not harm. Today I want to ask the question, “What do You want me to do?”. I want to hear what you have to say to me. Father forgive me when I have not asked You and have tried to do things on my own instead. I pray that You will lead me and direct me in Your ways. Amen.
