The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Trust God

I replied, “But my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the Lord’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.”
Isaiah 49:4, NLT

Recently, I was walking in a field, and I saw a small trail. I looked closer to see what it was that had made this trail, and I saw an ant highway. The ants were going back and forth on this trail, taking supplies back to their home. The trail I’d noticed had been worn through the grass, as each ant did its own small part.

We don’t normally think of ants as significant, or able to change the world, but, by each one of them doing their small part, it left an impact on the world that I was able to see. Each small part also helps the whole community of ants survive the winter.

I imagine that, down at their level, the ants couldn’t see the impact that they were making. I don’t think that they could see they were wearing a path through the grass. They just took one step in front of the other, carrying food back to the anthill. It was only from my ‘great height’, (in comparison with the ants), that I had the perspective to see the trail they were making.

Sometimes we can also feel small and insignificant. We can feel that the work we’re doing is useless and not really impacting anyone. Maybe we question, as in our scripture for today, if we’ve worn ourselves out for no purpose. When we don’t see positive results from the things we’re doing, whether naturally or spiritually, it can be disheartening. We can feel like giving up.

Let’s be encouraged by today’s verse. Let’s leave it all in God’s hand and trust Him for our reward. He sees everything we do. He’ll reward each one of us for the things we do. As we partner with Him, doing His will in our lives, we can trust Him with the fruit. As Paul says, in 1 Corinthians 3:7, ‘It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow’.

Don’t give up, but trust God!

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You’re the one who makes the seeds grow. Thank You that You allow us to partner with You and do our part to bring Your truth into the world where we are. Sometimes what we do feels so small and insignificant, and we can feel like giving up. But, thank You that You give me encouragement to continue on the path where You set me, and I choose today to trust the outcome into Your hands. Amen.
