True Royalty!

With some excitement and some trepidation, some inquisitive families set out on a quest each week to find out if they are related to royalty. For some the search ends in disappointment as the trail goes cold as there’s no evidence of their connection to a royal person of their choice. For others, their hopes rise as they turn the pages of historic documents to see if they are related to this important person or that titled landowner. If that all important link proves that they can claim kinship to a royal person, they are overcome with tears of joy. The search can take days, weeks, months, years and even take them across continents.
But what a difference one moment makes when a person decides to become a Christian. There’s nothing that can compare with the wonderful experience of those who have knelt in repentance before Christ Jesus, the Son of the Living God, and invited him into their lives.
My heart surged with joy as I mused on the fact that Jesus has made it possible for any of us to be born into the only royal bloodline that will stand the test of eternity - let alone time! The scripture declares that God has ‘delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the Kingdom of His dear Son’ (Colossians 1:13). In an instant we can belong to His generational line! To you and I God has held out the royal sceptre and bids us draw near.
How wonderful it is to know that Almighty God, the King of Kings has actively pursued you and me in order to bestow on us the rights and benefits of royalty. He forgives our sins, heals our sicknesses and clothes us in the garments of praise and the robes of righteousness. He crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies and satisfies our mouth with good things (Psalm 103). Now that’s true royalty!
