The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

The King Is Coming!

“Then he (Jesus) added, “Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and plagues in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs from heaven.””
Luke 21:10-11, NLT

Have you ever noticed how the weather can get your attention? Mostly when it gets our attention it`s because it`s not behaving normally. This can be mild inconvenience, such as having an outing planned and down comes the rain. We moan “Oh not the rain today.” But it can be much more than that.

I live in Australia on a beef cattle farm with my husband Leigh. It`s now the middle of our summer and the weather definitely has our attention. We need rain, desperately! This is more than our normal summer heat and dry. We`ve just had so little rain for many months. As farmers we`re totally dependent on the weather. If we don`t get rain soon there`ll be serious consequences that I don`t want to have to face. My prayer for our farm is “Please God let it rain.”

But then I don`t have to cast my gaze too far from our drought to see the weather playing havoc with many lives in Australia and all over the world. Lives lost, properties and homes lost or damaged, people living with the trauma. Some parts of the world are far from needing rain. All at the same time across our globe there can be drought (or famine), bush fires, floods, cyclones, tornadoes, typhoons, snow storms, ice storms, dust storms, earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanos devastating people`s lives. Some of you might be facing a natural disaster today or you`re living with the consequences of a day the weather changed your life. And in the midst of it all we cry out to God “Help!”

As I was saying this very prayer this week, I was reminded by the Lord of the scripture from Luke 21. Jesus actually told us 2000 years ago that these things were going to happen. More than that He told us that these things are the sign that Jesus` return is coming closer. It`s like the whole world is shaking, preparing for His return. The weather is affected as that shaking occurs, as we see its fury lash our earth. So although it may be difficult at times now, it may get worse as His return comes nearer. Let me remind you what Jesus said: `And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!` (Luke 21:25-28).

As Jesus` disciples we`re in the world, but not of the world. I charge you not to fear as turmoil abounds, but to stand, look up, and maintain your unswerving trust in Jesus. Jesus alone is able to provide the healing you need from the trauma you`ve faced. He also knows our current needs, like our need for rain, and He`ll provide for each of us as we remain faithful to Him. But Jesus is coming! The King is coming! Your salvation is near. Let the earth rejoice!
