The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

The Judgement

by Jill Southern

It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement.
Hebrews 9:27, NIV

Why will you stand at the judgement seat of Christ? What will you give an account of?
As born again believers, what are we going to be judged for? It seems to me that there’s a lot of confusion about this, as some believe it will be about our sin.

In the bible, it does say ‘For we shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ’ (Romans 14:10), but it also says that the second coming of Jesus Christ will be an occasion for jubilation and celebration for us who believe. So, this is definitely not about our sin.

We know all have sinned and the wages of sin is death. We’ve already been declared guilty, but Jesus has died our death. The judgement has been made and the price paid. Where, then, is our sin now? It’s as far as the east is from the west, and God chooses to remember it no more, so we don’t have to either. He’s not going to dig it up again on judgement day.

Only believers will appear before the judgement seat of Christ, and it will be the unsaved only at the Great White Throne. The saved will be judged about how obedient they’ve been to God, and what He called them individually to accomplish.

1 Corinthians 3 talks about the heavenly fire test that is coming to test each person’s work. If anyone’s work is burnt up they’ll suffer loss, but they themselves will be saved. That’s God’s free gift to us, but it’s only as one escaping through the fire. Therefore, it’s our works which will be judged.

Paul writes that there are many crowns laid up for him in glory. What about us today? Can we say that? We must be steadfast and immoveable, abounding in the work of the Lord, and our labour won’t be in vain. God won’t forget our labour of love.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to build into my life gold, silver and precious stones, so that all that I’m doing now will survive the heavenly fire test. I want to hear those words “Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your reward”. Let it be so in Jesus’ name, Amen.
