The Father’s Love
by Lynda Scott
When I was in my early 20’s I loved the Lord and wanted to do whatever pleased Him. Wherever He wanted me to go I would go, whatever He wanted me to do I would do. I was in that wonderful stage of life when I was young and single, where obeying and following the Lord was fairly straightforward. I had been crying out to Him with the dreams in my heart and asking for the things that I hoped for in my future.
Then I had one of those life-changing moments in my life. The church I was attending at the time had a visiting ministry come for the weekend. I had just been to a football match and hurried to church after the match to hear the speaker, Dr John White of the Vineyard movement. The church was packed and I got a seat upstairs in the back row. At the end of the talk Dr White’s pastor, who was travelling with him, came forward to give a prophetic word. He called ‘the lady in the back row with the orange sweater’ to stand. It was me! I stood shaking, never having experienced anything like this before. What he said to me was so profound and I knew it was Father God speaking “I have heard the cry of your heart and I am going to show you how much I love you!”
As I wrote my book Lynda I felt that this was a word that the Lord wanted me to share and as I prepared today for this Seed I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to share it again. This word was indeed for me, but this word is also for you.
His word did not mean that I would be exempt from suffering and pain. Actually I went through tremendous suffering within a short time of receiving this word and in the following years. But through all that I went through the Father has shown me He knows my deepest longings and dreams and that as I have obeyed Him and trusted Him He has shown me the incredible extent of His love.
So let this word, if you will, penetrate your heart today. Bring to the Father all your unfulfilled dreams and desires afresh and ask Him to show you how much He truly loves you. The Father will delight to show you how much He loves you.
Prayer: Dear Father, I bring You my heart with all of my deepest longings and dreams. Would You please show me how much You love me. I love You. Amen.
