The Father’s Hand
by Tanya Person
Last summer we were swimming in the lake with our grandson and some other children. The parents of the other children were sitting on the shore. Suddenly we noticed a snake swimming toward us on the surface of the water. I was startled but tried not to overreact, because I didn’t want to cause the children to panic.
The father who was sitting on the shore came over and picked up the snake and showed it to the kids. He knew that the snake was not something to be afraid of, and, through how he calmly showed it to the kids, they were able to appreciate God’s creation and they knew they didn’t have to be afraid. After they spent time looking at it, the father sent the snake on its way again away from where we were swimming.
I was thinking about this again recently. Our heavenly Father knows that we do not need to panic and be afraid about things. He knows all about everything in our lives and I can sense Him saying, “Come and look at this from my perspective. You don’t need to be afraid!” Isn’t it wonderful that we have a heavenly Father who takes the time to listen to us and teach us? May we all take time to look to Him and let him show us things from His perspective.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that You know all things. Thank You that You want to show me things from Your perspective. Please help me to remember to look to You and let You show me how You see the things that I am afraid of or concerned about. Amen.
