The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Sweet Perfume

by Tanya Person

But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
2 Corinthians 2:14, NLT

I stepped out into the cool evening air and took a deep breath. The air was full of a sweet scent I couldn’t identify. My daughter who lives here explained that it was the orange blossoms from the orange grove nearby. As I read today’s verse I was reminded of that experience.

Many times, we have had people say that they feel happy when we are around. They don’t know why, but I believe it is because we are carrying that sweet fragrance of Christ, but it is an unfamiliar scent to them, so they don’t recognise what it is. It is our duty to share with them the knowledge of Christ that they are scenting, so they can know him also.

What is the sweet aroma of Christ that we carry with us? It is the joy and peace that we have deep inside, that inner confidence of who we are in Christ. These things go beyond our circumstances and people notice them. Even when they don’t recognise what it is about us that is different, people can sense the difference.

If we are not having opportunities to share the reason for our difference, let’s pray that God helps us to be more engulfed in His fragrance so that we can share it with others.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that I can carry Your fragrance with me and share it with the world. Forgive me for the times that I have carried more of my fragrance rather than Yours, and help me to immerse myself in Your presence, so I can bring the knowledge of You to the world that so desperately needs You. Amen.
