The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Shaking

by Angela Weir

Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
Luke 21:26-28, NIV

So far we haven’t seen the heavenly bodies being shaken but there’s certainly a great deal of shaking going on in the financial markets and many people are deeply concerned. I don’t know if this is part of the ‘final shaking and sifting’ but what’s happening will cause people to reassess their priorities.

Maybe God’s using this time to try to get us to focus on what’s truly important in life: our relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. Jesus Christ is the only unshakeable One – ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever’ (Hebrews 13:8). We need to put our roots down deep and trust Him from day to day, as we never know what may happen tomorrow.

There’s a river I sometimes walk beside. It rises quite dramatically when it rains heavily, often 8 to 10 feet in a matter of hours, covering the banks and the plants that grow there. I’m always astonished at the tiny snowdrops, so white and fragile-looking, which survive the turbulent waters time after time and still come up each spring time. Their bulbs must be buried deep down to survive and not get swept away. That’s how we need to be: buried deep in the Lord so that we can continue to serve Him when the storms are past.

Prayer: Father, today’s events can sometimes make life seem confusing and difficult leaving me feeling uncertain and concerned. I know that you have a perfect plan for my life. Please help me to put my trust deeper in You. Amen.
