The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Our dependable God

by Angela Weir

For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.
Psalm 27: 5, Amp

It’s getting more and more difficult to speak about one’s faith in Great Britain (which was once a Christian country sending many missionaries across the world). There have been several incidents where people have spoken out the truth about Jesus – a nurse offering to pray for a patient, a little girl talking to her friends – which have shown how intolerant our society has become towards Christianity. Such examples can easily make us become fearful of expressing our faith, particularly as, in one case, it was supposedly Christian friends who reported the incident!

Where do we run when the world around us seems hostile? David found security in His Lord when he was on the run from Saul and his armies. Although as a young man David had been anointed by Samuel to be the king, it must have seemed that it would never happen. Yet in dark and difficult days he found that God was utterly dependable, and eventually, he did become king.

God’s always here. He’s trustworthy and faithful. He promises to be our shield and defender. No matter what the storms are around us, God will sustain us. He will be with us in all our dark times, though He may not keep us from them. As the darkness gets darker we need to draw closer to our ever-loving Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You never change and I can trust in You when everything around seems to be crumbling. Please help me to build my faith and not to be fearful of the circumstances around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
