The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

My Best Friend

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
James 2:23, KJV

At the moment, I’m visiting my niece, who’s in hospital after a mini stroke. She’s doing really well and is very much loved and cared for by all the staff of the hospital, the nurses, the doctors and everyone who visits her. I continue to be amazed and challenged by her positive attitude, because, when she was much younger, she had a brain haemorrhage, and has been cared for ever since by her devoted parents.

A few months ago, she and I were chatting and thinking about family and friends, when she suddenly asked me the question “Who’s your best friend?”

To my shame, I proceeded to go through a long list of people with whom I had a valued friendship and who meant a great deal to me. When I’d finished, I asked my niece: “And who is your best friend?”

She immediately pointed upwards and said, “Him up there”. She paused for a moment and then asked, “Oh! Am I allowed to call Him that?”

My immediate thought, and reply, was that I was sure He wouldn’t mind, because, after all, He was her best friend.

And so, my prayer for you today is that you will know ‘Him up there’, Jesus, as your best friend too.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the challenges which we face each day and the knowledge that You are indeed our ‘best friend’. Help us to trust You daily as different challenges arise. We know we can do this, because of Your promise that You’ll never leave us or forsake us. We thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
