Joyfully look forward
by Pam Smith
We’re encouraged to live one day at a time because of the trouble around us, but at the same time to know that we can joyfully and confidently look forward to becoming all that God has created us to be. There are always more amazing plans for our lives, more goodness and mercy, more revelation and wisdom, more power and strength, more light to walk in, and more faith and hope. In the book of Hebrews the word ‘hope’ is more than wishful thinking - it’s an anchor for the soul (Hebrews 6.19). God has called us to a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We can look forward to His great love changing us on the inside to become more like Christ, for part of His great plan is to conform us to the image of His Son.
In the Christian life things are not always as they appear to be. Often they’re the complete opposite. We can be poor, yet give rich spiritual gifts to others. We can be weak, yet have a great inner strength of the Spirit. We can have nothing, yet possess all things from the riches available in Christ Jesus. We can be a ‘nobody’ in the eyes of man, yet be well-known by the Lord Himself.
The Lord has started a good work in you and He will complete it. Trust His promises, and even if you can’t see the way ahead, know that Jesus is the author and finisher of your faith and says to you, ‘Trust my love’.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that You give me enough grace for today. May I learn to trust Your love with joy and confidence for tomorrow .In Jesus’ name, Amen.
