The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

I Tell You the Truth

by Tracy Bankuti

In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can seek the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
John 3:3,NIV

As a child, I once travelled with my family from our home in Canada to the United States. My father told me that we would cross a border to get there, which stirred many exciting pictures in my little mind. I had never been to the United States— did not know what or where it was and tried hard to imagine the border that seemed to separate us from this new land.

The back of our station wagon was transformed into a cosy bed, and feeling much like I did on Christmas eve I finally dozed off with bubbling excitement in my heart, trusting in my father’s promise that he would wake me up when we arrived at the border.

My father had never given me a reason to distrust his words and I knew that I was safe; therefore, I could rest in the back of the car without a care in my heart while my father drove us to a new destination.

Today you may be considering accepting God’s mysterious and miraculous truth, desiring to enter the kingdom of God but unsure if God or His word is reliable, much like Nicodemus, who Jesus is replying to in today’s scripture. Your ability to trust Him will depend greatly on the foundations of your life and the trustworthiness of your earthly parents.

Either way, remarkably, seventy-six times in the New Testament Jesus still says to you today, “I tell you the truth.” It requires faith to accept the things that you cannot see (Hebrews 11:1). I couldn’t see the border between Canada and the United States but I trusted that it existed, based on my dad’s firsthand knowledge of it.

There is a border that separates us from God, called sin. Jesus, who is Truth is the only way through that border. There comes a time when, by faith, we are moved to make a decision just like Nicodemus. Please consider making that faith decision today based on God’s reliable word (John 8:26), His incredible love for you (John 3:16), and the testimony of Jesus Christ, not on the circumstances of your life.

Jesus is alive! How do I know that? Because the whole world just celebrated His birth, and come Easter we will celebrate, not just His death, but also His resurrection; documented historical truths. He crossed the border of sin and death to make a way for you and me. What an incredible sacrifice! What an amazing gift!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, with my mouth today, I proclaim in faith that You are the Son of God who died for me and for my sin. I believe in faith that You not only died, but also were mysteriously and miraculously raised to life by God the Father. I want You to be the Lord and Saviour of my life, and I invite You today to come into my heart so that I can enter Your Father’s Kingdom and know Your truth. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
