The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Help, Lord!

by Gemma Gardner

As soon as the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel”. So they turned to fight against him. And Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; God drew them away from him.
2 Chronicles 18:31, ESV

Jehoshaphat was in serious trouble. He had foolishly made an alliance with King Ahab of Israel and had gone into battle with Ahab against the Syrians. Ahab had told him to wear his royal robes, while he disguised himself, putting Jehoshaphat in grave danger. But just as the Syrian commanders were closing in on him to kill him, thinking he was the King of Israel, Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord saved him.

All of us may encounter crisis situations at different times in our lives. Some may be due to our own wrong choices, but others can just happen without any warning as we are going about our daily lives. One such crisis happened to me just recently.
I was out early one morning just after 7am, walking our newly adopted dog, Bobby. He hates other dogs and would attack them, given the chance. But we put a muzzle on him, and a calming cap to restrict his vision, so he doesn’t see clearly, but can see well enough to walk ahead.

However, this time, when he heard a dog barking behind him, he made a dash in the direction of the sound and, somehow, his lead came off and he was running free. The owner of the other dog scooped it up in her arms. I was running after Bobby, but I couldn’t catch him, and I was terrified. There is a main road nearby and I could hear the traffic.

Bobby was running wildly, and I feared he would end up under a car. In my distress, I cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, save him!” The Lord immediately stopped Bobby in his tracks, and he ran to me. I hurriedly put his lead on and took him home. I was so grateful, but very shaken up for a while.

In Psalm 34:6, King David testified, “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.” The Lord wants us to know that we can call on Him when we are in any trouble, big or small, and He will be there to help us. Each time He does, it will build our faith and trust in Him, that He is right there with us in any and every situation we face.

Prayer: Lord, I want to thank You that You are right there with us when we are afraid because things are out of our control. I thank You that You are always in control and that You hold our lives in Your hands. Please help me to trust You more and to be obedient to Your directions and commands. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
