Going to The Edge
by Jim Person
One of the most inspiring events to me in the Bible is when Peter took those steps out of the safety and confinements of his boat to walk on water. I have a personal connection with this event, as I was a commercial fisherman in my past, but most significant is the impact it has on my spiritual life. Time and time again, God brings me to the edge to look toward Him and His call to come to out of my comfort zone, and step out in faith, trusting Him to make the footing beneath my feet secure and firm.
Have you been to the edge in your life? Have you looked out on the obstacle before you, not sure if you can trust the unseen, and fearing what is seen? I believe I’m inspired to encourage you to risk everything on Jesus, and cast your life into His capable hands.
What’s holding you back? Jesus is trustworthy, faithful, and secure. You can depend on His ability to make the path before you solid.
Five, ten, or twenty years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, unhook from the perceived safety of the harbour. Sail away, and catch the winds of faith in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. And live!
Prayer: Oh Father, how I fail to rely on Your ability to make things happen, because of that which I can’t perceive to be! Help me to trust You, Father. Strengthen my feeble legs to take the step You’re asking me to take. I chose to trust You and rely on Your strength. Oh my God and Saviour, I want to live my life for You today! Thank You Jesus. Amen.
