The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Friends of God

So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God - all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.
Romans 5:11, NLT

I'm not the most technically-minded person on the planet! My five year old can operate the television remote controls better than I can, and will often be called to come to my rescue. With that in mind, nobody is more surprised than I am that I have become a fan of something so modern and technically advanced as ‘Facebook’!

Being overseas from family and friends, I have really enjoyed catching up with everyone's news and photos via ‘Facebook’. It has amazed me how easy it is to get back in touch with people you knew years ago in just the click of a button. It also amazes me how easy and effortless it is to collect friends, as my list grows week by week!

As great as it is, we must be so careful with the advancement of technology in social networking, that we don't overstretch the definition of the word ‘Friend’ in our hearts. When God says that He calls us ‘Friend’ it means so much more than the quick conversation and ‘catch up’. It means a relationship that is deep and intimate - a relationship where we can be ourselves and not be afraid of rejection - a friendship like we will find in no other relationship on this planet. No wife, husband, best mate, mother, father, child or twin can fill that need in our hearts to be loved and accepted like Jesus can!

We don't have to explain ourselves with Jesus. And He never changes His mind. He's not subject to mood swings. He’s the same, yesterday, today and forever and His love for us never waivers. His commitment to us never weakens.

All of us can grow in our relationship with the Lord. We can fall deeper in love with Him, and learn more of who He is and His love for us. I want to encourage you today to make Jesus your first love - your best friend. The person to whom you reveal the secrets of your heart and the one in whom you place your ultimate trust.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, what a privilege that You would call me Your friend! Lord, I’m sorry if I have looked to others to be the intimate love of my heart. Please show me how to build my relationship with You and to fall deeper in love with You each day of my life, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
