Do Not Worry
by Lynda Scott
So much of our lives can be dominated by worry. Do I have enough to buy this? Or that? Will I be able to pay all the bills? Will I have enough for the clothes I need, or the food I need to eat? Then what about the children? Will I have enough? It can seem endless. A constant balancing act of handling money, and dealing with it responsibly.
In the midst of the financial balancing act Jesus has a question for us – ‘Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?’ No, they can’t! Jesus wants us to know that our Father in Heaven already knows our needs, and that He cares for us. He doesn’t want us to waste our time worrying. Instead we’re to seek His Kingdom, and focus on Him first and foremost. Then we’ll find that our Father will provide our earthly needs, without us having to worry about it.
So if you’re worrying today, it’s time to stop. It won’t add a single moment to your life. Set your attention to your Heavenly Father. Reading Luke 12 could be helpful to start you off. He’ll certainly care for you and provide your needs.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You that You know my needs before I even ask. I’m so glad You care for me. Forgive me for worrying about my needs, and how I handle the money that I have. I choose to seek the Kingdom of God first in my life. Thank You that You’ll provide for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
