The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Created to Worship

by Pam Smith

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honour and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all therein, saying, “To Him who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honour and glory and might for ever and ever!”
Revelation 5:12-13, RSV

God created the angels to worship him. He made creation to worship him, all the animals and birds, the sun, moon and stars, the mountains and hills and the trees of the field, but most of all He created man and woman to worship him.

He doesn’t force us to worship Him, but because of His goodness and kindness and ‘poured out’ love for us at Calvary we naturally want to respond in worship. And He is worthy of our worship. All the angels in heaven cry ‘Worthy is the Lamb to receive honour, power, glory and blessing forever’ (Revelation 5:12).

Jesus endured the mocking crowd for us and said nothing. ‘He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth’ (Isaiah 53:7). They put a purple robe upon Him to mock him and yet He really is the King of kings. They put a reed in His hand for a sceptre, yet He is Ruler of everything. They put a crown of thorns on His head, yet He is crowned with many crowns above all thrones and kingdoms in heaven and earth.

I am reminded of the line of the hymn which says ‘We may not know we cannot tell what pains he had to bear, but we believe it was for us he hung and suffered there’. We all fall short of the glory of God but Jesus died that we might be forgiven and to make us worthy to be worshippers. He died that we might be delivered and restored and find our ultimate, wonderful, purpose through all eternity, which is true worship of our Great God and Saviour.

Angels help us to adore Him,
Ye behold Him face to face.
Sun and moon bow down before Him,
Dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Praise with us the God of Grace.
(Henry F.Lyte)
