The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Be Still

Be Still and Know that I Am God
Psalm 46:10, NIV

I love Psalm 46:10, and I think it’s so relevant, especially during the spring, when we were in the first lockdown here in the UK.

We had time to be still and I had time to spend precious days with my daughter, just walking in the countryside and going for picnics. The weather was absolutely glorious! The world seemed to stand still for a short while with no planes in the sky and very few cars on the roads. People noticed the beautiful colours of spring flowers, bird song and of course the new lambs in the fields.

I heard people say, “listen to the birds I’ve never heard them sing like that”, which is silly, as they always sing so beautifully in the spring. People just weren’t listening. But now they had time to be still and take in God’s wonderful creation at its best.

We can be so busy in life we miss the simple pleasures God gives us and they are all free!

In Mark 4:39-41, the disciples were afraid when caught up in a big storm, and all Jesus had to say was, “Peace. Be still!” I think a lot of people feel like the disciples at the moment, with all that’s going on in the world, but we have to remember God is still on the throne. We don’t have to be afraid when we trust Him.

One final thought about being still. The next time you find yourself in a traffic jam or in a big, long queue at the supermarket, instead of feeling frustrated, thank God for that little bit of time in your busy day just to be still.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank |You for creating this beautiful world that I so often take for granted. Help me to see new things every day and just be still and know that You are God. Amen.
