The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Be Careful What You Say

by Philip Asselin

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21, NIV

“Fear starves faith. Rejection overcomes acceptance. Hopelessness defeats comfort. Anger cancels peace. Bitterness blocks forgiveness. Loss kills love. Deceit destroys truth. Shame covers grace.”

Did you sense how negative and harmful those words are that you have just read?

Now read them again, but in reverse. Notice how things changed dramatically and lifted your spirit. That is the effect of the power of the words we speak over ourselves.

Because of the unhappy experiences we may have had in our lives we can see our life and our future in a negative way. The enemy wants to use those experiences for us to speak like that over our lives, which affects our future. These negative words are actually curses and give the enemy the right to damage us.

James 3:10, NIV says, `Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.`

And Matthew 15:11, NLT says, It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”

What negative words do you find yourself saying about yourself? “I am useless! I am a failure! I am too bad for God to accept me! I will never achieve anything! My life is hopeless!”

If you find yourself doing these things it is time to stop. Instead, turn it round and speak the truth that God says about you over your life - that you are loved and accepted. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He chose you in Christ before the foundation of the world. Ask Holy Spirit to give you the truth that God says about you. That is the antidote to the lies you have been speaking. Then speak God’s truth daily over your life.

If nothing else, please remember this. God made you and He doesn’t make mistakes!
