I Stand at the Door and Knock

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person and they with me.
Revelation 3:20, NLT

Sometimes we can get so caught up in the world, with possessions, money, and our careers, that we can miss hearing God’s voice. We can lose interest in Church, reading our Bibles and spending time with Him. Therefore, we can shut the door to Jesus and to hearing His voice. I know I don’t want to shut God out of my life. Do you?

So, what can we do? Well, we can open the door to our hearts. If we do that, we don’t need to worry about not hearing Him knock. When we do that, we have hope of lasting fulfilment and don’t need the things of the world.

Now I’m not saying we don’t need jobs, money and possessions, but what I’m saying is we don’t need them to try and fill the hole in our lives, and we don’t need them for satisfaction and fulfilment.

Jesus is knocking on the door of my heart, and your heart, so what should we do when we sense Him knocking? Well, I don’t know about you, but I want to let Him in and to have fellowship with Him. Jesus wants to have fellowship with us. Just take a moment to think about that. The King of kings wants to have fellowship with us!

Jesus won’t gate-crash. He won’t force His way in. He is very patient, but persistent, and He really wants us to open up to Him. Jesus is knocking.

It really is down to us whether we open up our lives to Him and let Him in to do what needs to be done. It really is for our best. Do we want a life changing experience with Him, or are we, am I, going to intentionally keep the door shut and keep Him out?

My thought for today is this. Is the door of my heart open to Jesus, or am I keeping it closed? Do I want to have fellowship with Him or to hang on to the things of the world? Do I want freedom in my life, or do I want to hang on to hurt, pain, bitterness, and possessions?

“Here I stand at the door knocking”.

Prayer: Father God, I open the door of my heart to You. I hear You knocking. Please come in today. Thank You. Amen.
