The whole course is exceptional very relevant to me. I have gone away with a lot to think about. I have learnt that I don't have just to cope and be so independent. God is good & loves me, even me!.... Read More...

Deflection

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10, NIV

Our twin Grand babies are one year old the week I write this. They are the cutest little munchkins, but they are at an age where life is one big discovery and where they think life should all go exactly how they want it to.

I have discovered that one of my biggest jobs as Grandma (or GG as they call me) is to manage their attention and emotions. I’ll give you some examples of my duties. When Elijah is heading back to the corner to pull up and eat the carpet, I quickly build him a tower to knock down instead. When Wren is about to spot her Mummy leaving the room, I burst into a rendition of “If you are happy and you know it clap your hands” to dodge the inevitable screams at being left behind. I don’t want to brag, but I am becoming quite the expert on the art of deflection.

This word deflection has stayed with me this week. It’s got me wondering if this is what the enemy uses in our lives on a regular basis. I’m starting to see this could well be a strategy he operates with to take our attention from the things of God.

Do you find it happens to you? You decide you are going to take a moment and read your Bible, and before you know it you end up on Instagram or emptying the washing machine instead. You decide you will pray for someone and worship, then you remember that cruel thing that was said last year that you have dealt with but suddenly find yourself replaying. If these things and similar ones happen to you, you are not alone!

I feel as if God is putting a light on in my life to show me what is really going on. I’m not a fan of blaming the enemy for everything, but I do wonder if the enemy is at work in very subtle ways trying to divert and distract us from the things of God.

Perhaps we need to be more aware and open eyed that this could be a strategy the enemy is using in our lives. Watch out for it and push through on what God has been leading you to – don’t let the enemy deflect or divert your attention. He is a robber and thief, but once we see his strategies we can walk in victory in Jesus` name.
