Seek His Face

« Previous DayA recurring theme I have been hearing recently is “seek his face!” As a team, we have been pondering this together. We’ve had the picture of being cheek to cheek with God, where he can show us what He is looking at, but we have also heard the invitation to look fully in His face.
Oh, the intimacy when we are looking directly in another’s face! Can you picture looking at Jesus directly in His face? Do you feel like the child that can grab the adult’s face to make sure you have their full attention? Or do you feel unworthy and want to look away? If we can bring ourselves to look fully in His face, we will see so much love and acceptance! He wants you to feel that. He wants that for each one of us!
When we can look fully in His face and receive that love and acceptance, and be filled with it, then it will permeate our whole lives. We will be better able to love and accept all those around us.
When we feel something is keeping us from looking full in His face, then we can say, like David in Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” As He shows us things, then we can repent and receive His forgiveness. Nothing needs to come in the way of us gazing on His face.
I’m reminded of the old chorus, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
