Nothing Impure Will Ever Enter

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb`s book of life.
Revelation 21:27, NIV

Revelation chapter 21 describes how John saw the Holy City coming down from heaven, prepared as a bride ready for her husband. From the throne came a loud voice, and God said, `Now I will live among you. You will be my people and I will be your God. There will be no more death or crying or pain. Every tear will be wiped away, and everything is being made new. If anyone is thirsty, come and drink from my Fountain of Life.`

The foundations were built upon precious stones and the street paved with pure gold. The glory of the Lord shone all around and God Himself, with His Son, were the temple. Worship was in and through the Father and the Son directly, and everything was bathed in the Light of His brilliance.

But... `Nothing impure will ever enter it... only those whose names are written in the Lamb`s book of life` (Revelation 21:27).

What hope is there for me? How about you? Are we good enough? `for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God` (Romans 3:23); `All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rag.` (Isaiah 64:6); `Without holiness no one will see the Lord` (Hebrews 12:14).

We can`t do it. `There is no one righteous, not even one` (Romans 3:10) Sinful man cannot come near an awesome God. But Jesus is the answer. A sacrifice has been made and a price has been paid. The way has been made open for us.

`God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God` (2 Corinthians 5:21); `Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure` (1 John 3:3); `Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence` (Hebrews 4:16); `I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me` (Galatians 2:20); `Because of Him you are in Christ Jesus` (1 Corinthians 1:30).

In Christ Jesus: He is in me, and I in Him. I am also in His Book, the Lamb`s Book of Life. You too...

Prayer: Father, I know my weaknesses, but You know my strength lies in Jesus. Help me to live daily in that strength, with my eyes fixed on the destiny You have prepared for me. In Jesus` name. Amen.
