Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

I Will Do It

by Ria Hefti

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass, He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.

Have you ever felt God asked you to do something, you went ahead and did it, and yet you failed? You know that you took the time and effort to pray and plan, and to get advice from others, so you’d be successful in that which He asked you to do. If the end result had been positive and clear, you would have felt successful and valued. But, when the end result didn’t meet your expectations, you felt like a failure – that you’d failed God and were no longer a worthy person. You worried and started thinking what mistake you’d made to cause it to fail.

But, do you know what? God isn’t interested in your results. He’s interested in your obedience. He’s interested in the fact that you did what He asked you to do, not in the outcome - in other words, not whether you succeeded or not.

For example, God might ask you to share your faith with another person, maybe someone who’s very strongly against anything to do with Jesus. You do so, but the person just gets upset with you and walks away. It would be easy to feel like a failure, because the person doesn’t immediately repent, and embrace what you believe. But take a moment and ponder what God asks of you.

God doesn’t ask you to convert the person. He only asks you to share your faith. If you do your part, then God will take care of the rest. 1 Corinthians 3:6 says, ‘I (Paul) planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase’. Throughout the Old Testament, we can read, over and over again, what God did when the people were simply obedient to what He asked of them.

Isaiah 55:10-11 states that God’s word ‘will not return to [Him] empty, but will accomplish what [He] desire[s] and achieve the purpose for which [He] sent it’.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I confess that I have taken on responsibility for things that are Your responsibility and not mine. Please forgive me where I’ve blamed You when the results weren’t what I expected. I ask You, Father, to help me recognise what my part is, and to trust You that You will bring Your plan to pass. Thank You that You will help me, step by step, from this time forward. Amen.
