I Speak Jesus

« Previous DayI was deeply moved by a worship song we recently sang in church, entitled I speak Jesus. I sensed, very powerfully, that God was reminding me that I needed to less often be asking things of Him and to more often exercise the delegated authority that He has conferred on every follower of Jesus.
The song encourages us to speak the name of Jesus over hearts, minds, family, darkness, addictions, fear, anxiety, and depression, trusting that the supreme authority of His name, uttered from a humble and believing heart, is an instrument of God’s power, healing, and life.
Jesus sent out His first disciples not primarily to be asking for His help but, with His authority and power, to proclaim His Kingdom and His healing. He has not changed His ways for He instructed these first disciples to make more disciples, teaching them to put into practice all that He had commanded the first disciples to do (Matthew 28:19-20).
God, of course, hears and responds to our petitions but I am convinced afresh that He also waits for us to declare His name and His authority over people and situations where we discern the defiling hand of the enemy. This is not a position of arrogance but rather a recognition that, as members of the Body of Christ on earth today, we are mandated to both carry and speak the supremacy of His name.
