Hope for Accident Victims
by Lynda Scott
This is such an amazing passage of scripture. It is first prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah 61 and as Jesus stands in his local synagogue at Nazareth he declares that He is the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy (Luke 4:21). Jesus is declaring boldly that He is indeed the Messiah.
Some years ago I had an accident where I fell 35 feet off a cliff and landed in some rocks, coming very close to death. I survived by the grace of God, but I then had to live with the consequences of the accident. I had 4 fractures in my spine, 2 fractures in my my skull and a mild brain injury, as well as many other injuries. This outworked itself in a lot of back pain, difficulty walking, constant headaches, vertigo and fatigue. I became depressed being unable to work and I struggled to deal with the massive change to my lifestyle. The pain was ongoing, which brought me to the place where I was suicidal, seeing it to be the only hope of ending the pain.
My life at that time was in actual fact a description of what Jesus is referring to in Luke 4 - one who is `brokenhearted.` But Jesus says in today`s scripture that He has come to `heal the brokenhearted.` So by the grace of God He led me a few years later to an Ellel Ministries conference where I heard taught for the first time that Jesus could bring healing today to victims of accident and trauma, with many accompanying testimonies of people who had been healed! This was astonishing news for me, a victim of an accident. That night the conference prayed for me and before a room full of medical doctors and church pastors I was miraculously healed by Jesus from all the consequences of my accident! My life was transformed.
Maybe you have had an accident or suffered a deep trauma and you are still living with the consequences of it or maybe you know womeone like that. Let me give you hope today - Jesus came to ‘heal the brokenhearted’ and that means YOU! Don’t keep the good news to yourself. Tell your family and friends that Jesus can bring healing to victims of accident and trauma and tell them the story of a lady named Lynda from Australia.
I want to encourage you to never give up hope. Jesus knows all you have gone through and His heart is to bring you healing. Jesus is the only one who can heal and restore a broken life. May He lead you at the right time to where you may receive your healing.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you so much that you came to heal the brokenhearted. I bring my own broken heart to you today and ask You to bring Your healing. Amen.
