Hide Your Loved Ones
by Pam Smith
What a comfort these words are to me. I have known the security of being hidden when things have got too much and there’s nowhere to go. The Lord really does shelter you and hide you until the storm has passed.
Have you ever arrived home, in a storm, when the wind and rain are hammering down on you and you are laden with shopping or returning from a trip? You get inside, shut the door on the weather, take your wet things off, put the kettle on and feel secure and warm.
Someone may even have a kind word for you.
Shut the door on your storm and receive the comfort and security of the Lord. Receive His precious Word, so powerful that it makes you tremble, so perfect for your situation. You feel the life and joy rising inside you, knowing that everything is going to be alright.
Sometimes you may feel battered by something said to you. It rings in your ears, for words can often hurt more than sticks and stones. You may think it’s the truth and you hurt inside and want to hide away. It’s then, that Jesus can hide you and lead you into forgiveness of the hurt. Then healing can flow into your spirit bringing you into a place of joy and protection, safe beneath his hand.
We used to sing:
Let me hide in Thee,
Refuge there for me.
Christ of Resurrection fullness,
Let me hide in Thee.
He’s the only ‘hiding place’. The Risen Saviour in all His beauty is there for you. Take this opportunity to hide in Him whatever you’re going through. You will be able to encourage others with the same strength and joy that you’ve received in this precious place.
Prayer: Lord, I’m so grateful for this hiding place in You. You’re my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Hallelujah. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
