Seeds of the Kingdom

He Shall be Satisfied

by Pam Smith

When He sees all that He has accomplished by the anguish of His soul, he shall be satisfied.
Isaiah 51:11, LB

I was tempted to feel down when I was thinking about what I’d accomplished in life, but then I read Isaiah 51:11; ‘When He sees all that He has accomplished by the anguish of His soul, he shall be satisfied’. My thoughts were raised up to much higher realms. What an incredible accomplishment of Jesus! We’ll never know the full satisfaction of the Godhead, which goes on and on forever! It’s the satisfaction and joy over one sinner that repents (Luke 15:7). It’s not only echoed by the angels in heaven, but it’s the Song of the Lamb about the whole redemption of this world, at the resurrection of our Lord. In Revelation 15:3-4, we have the ‘Song of Moses and of the Lamb’.

‘Great and marvellous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Just and true are your ways, O King of the saints.
Who shall not fear You O Lord and glorify Your name
For You alone are Holy.
For all the nations shall come and worship before You
For Your judgements have been manifested’.

The Song of Moses, sung upon the deliverance from Egypt, under the Old Covenant is fulfilled in the victory song on overcoming the beast, his image and his name, under the protection of the New Covenant of the Lamb’s blood. It’s the same song, sung at a deeper level, sung to the same Lord who gave the victory.

One little part of God’s satisfaction is that I belong to Him, and I’m being made holy. He’s satisfied when I understand a new spiritual truth, or when I do what I see the Father doing. He’s satisfied when He sees acts of love and grace replacing selfishness. He’s satisfied when, however little we are in other people’s eyes, we’re priests and kings as we bring our prayers before Him, and command His blessings on people. He’s satisfied when He sees the powers of darkness driven back, as we call on His name and walk beneath the protection of His cross, and the blood that He shed for us. He’s satisfied when He sees us encouraging others to walk closer to Him.

Prayer: Lord, may we always want a closer relationship with You, always looking, always waiting, always coming for more. And as You’re satisfied, so may our hearts be more than satisfied with Your lovely presence and the excitement of listening as You whisper Your secrets to us. Amen.
