And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
Matthew 14:28-31, ESV

One of the most inspiring events to me in the Bible is when Peter took those steps out of the safety and confinements of his boat to walk on water. I have a personal connection with this event, as I was a commercial fisherman in my past, but most significant is the impact it has on my spiritual life. Time and time again, God brings me to the edge to look toward Him and His call to come to out of my comfort zone, and step out in faith, trusting Him to make the footing beneath my feet secure and firm.

Have you been to the edge in your life? Have you looked out on the obstacle before you, not sure if you can trust the unseen, and fearing what is seen? I believe I’m inspired to encourage you to risk everything on Jesus, and cast your life into His capable hands.

What’s holding you back? Jesus is trustworthy, faithful, and secure. You can depend on His ability to make the path before you solid.

Five, ten, or twenty years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, unhook from the perceived safety of the harbour. Sail away, and catch the winds of faith in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. And live!

After serving in various positions with Ellel in Central and Eastern Europe, God led them back to the United States, where he is now serving with the Ellel USA team. Jim and Tanya have a passion to see leaders restored, the church discipled and walking in God’s fullness of life and freedom.
