Follow the Yellow Brick Road

The Lord says, “I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct you and advise you.”
Psalm‬ ‭32:8,GNT

Staying in a hotel recently, I was given a room on the third floor, whilst my friends were on the first floor. For someone of my tender age that was a bit confusing. However, I found a simple way to locate my room after the phrase ‘follow the yellow brick road’ came into my mind.

There wasn’t a yellow brick road on my floor, but a lovely blue and gold carpet. Evidently the owners realised that some of their guests needed some guidance as to where they were sleeping because each floor had a different coloured carpet.

Having thankfully located my room, I began to wonder: “Does God care about and guide us in little things as well as in big decisions?”

After much thought I decided that “Yes, He does”, for, after all, Jesus encouraged the disciples to pray: “Give us this day our daily bread”. And I’ve always believed that that referred not only to food but also to any needs which we may have: that is the need to find my room.

So, my guidance for that day was to follow the yellow brick road. I wonder what His guidance will be for today. Our Lord is so inventive.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us not only to ask for Your guidance, but to recognise it, and follow it when You give it. Thank You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
