Delight in the Lord
by Lynda Scott
When I think of the word delight I think of my children when they get a special ice-cream. Their expression is one of such delight and excitement. The Lord wants us to have that kind of enthusiasm and delight in our loving Him because that is how He feels about us.
This week I was so blessed as today’s scripture was demonstrated in my life. For many years there have been two very specific pieces of furniture that I have always wanted. One in particular I have always dreamed of. I have never told anyone, even those closest to me. No one knew but the Lord. My best friend, Inge`s, father, Peter, is moving away from his home. Peter has been a master craftsman with wood throughout his working life. This week he has offered me the very pieces of furniture that I have always dreamed of, items he has personally crafted! I was just walking with the Lord, loving Him and serving Him, when most unexpectedly my loving Heavenly Father had a surprise for me. He gave me one of my heart’s desires. Why did he do it? Simply because He loves me and I delight in Him. So He used Inge and Peter to make my dream come true. My heart is filled with thanksgiving!
Father God knows the deepest hidden desires in your heart too. They do not have to be big things and they do not have to be spiritual things. It may be something that you have always loved or hoped to have one day. Today I urge you to continue to walk with the Lord and delight in Him. At the right time God will have a surprise for you too and you will know, as I did, that it was only you and the Lord who knew that the blessing He gave was one of your secret heart’s desires.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You that You know me so intimately and You know all that is in my heart. I delight in You today. Thank You that in Your timing You will give me my heart’s desires, showing me in a tangible way how much You love me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
