Yes, to Jesus: The Way
by Bernard Kariuki
There is only one way to come to the Father, and Jesus is that one and only way. Mary, through her obedience, said “yes” to being the vessel through whom Jesus the Way would enter our world. Through Mary's womb He became one of us, fully God, yet fully man, humbling Himself as a servant in order to reveal to us the way to the Father.
We may never know what our obedience to God will lead to. It might be costly, as it was for Mary, misunderstood by many, yet completely worth it. Through her obedience, unto us a child was born, unto us a Son was given, and the government would rest on His shoulders, and He would be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Immanuel, Jesus, the way to the Father was born (Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:22).
As we celebrate the birth of the Messiah, we remember that it began with a young woman who said “yes” to God, and God fulfilled His purpose through her.
Act in obedience to God. Say “yes” to Him and walk in His ways. It may cost you something, but the sacrifice will be worth it for the Kingdom of God.
During this festive season, what is God asking of you?
Remember, when you say “yes,” He stands by your side, and if God is for you, who can be against you? You may walk through fire or deep waters, but He will remain with you to the end.
Jesus Himself said “yes” to the Father. He became Immanuel, God with us, and only did what the Father instructed Him to do. His path wasn’t easy. His life began in a manger because every guest room was full, yet He walked faithfully with the Father.
Let us follow the way of Jesus, for His way always leads to the Father. There is no other way. Even in this season, do you know Him as the only way, and are you walking in His way? For there is a way that seems right to a person, but in the end, it leads to destruction. Let’s choose the Immanuel way. It might be narrow, but it definitely leads to life.
