What a Conundrum! – Run to God

by Ruth Hawkey

Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to GOD!
Proverbs 3:5-6, MSG

At this time when Britain has to make momentous decisions regarding Brexit, it seems that the country and especially our members of Parliament face a great conundrum: ‘What and how should they vote!’

Last Sunday, I too faced a minor conundrum. Where should I go to worship? I had three options, and, after much soul searching, I made my decision. I’m still not convinced that I made the right one. I just did my best and made my choice.

I guess for smaller decisions that was OK, because no great cataclysmic result would follow, but some choices will have a much greater impact. In fact, you may be facing such a decision even now. How do we face the greater conundrums?

According to God’s word we need to: ‘Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD ’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to GOD!’ (Proverbs 3:5-6).

I guess, from the above scripture, the first thing we need to do in any confusing situation is to admit that we don’t have all of the answers and to remember that, thankfully, in the midst of the conundrum, we know someone Who does. We just need to ask Him and trust that He’ll give clarity.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, You know that sometimes I’m faced with a difficult decision and I’m so confused about which way to go. Please forgive me for the many times when I stumble and fall. So today I come to You for direction. Please help me to know the way forward and to place my hand in Yours and my trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
