Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Time with our Heavenly Dad

by Paul Griffin

He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:2-3, NIV

Are you looking forward to spending time with your Heavenly Father today? As we grow older we can easily lose some of that child-like faith that Jesus encourages us to have. We can become so ‘rational’ and ‘intellectual’ in our approach to God that we miss something of His real heart towards us. A man on one of our Healing Retreats wrote the following:

I met my Dad for the first time last night. It was great, you see I’ve been waiting to meet Him for 15 years, and yet, I met Him as a 5 year old last night. There I was, sitting in a healing meeting. The speaker was telling me about the love that God has for me. For the first time ever I truly believed that He loved me, the first time I had ever felt it in my heart.

I closed my eyes and there He was. I was in a field with Him. I was running through the long grass laughing and happy, my blond hair flowing in the breeze. Dad was chasing me. I was running away from Him, laughing and screaming - pretending not to want to be caught, but, being my Dad, He knew exactly what I wanted. He ran up behind me and lifted me high into the air. I felt so overjoyed, carefree, loved and protected. He put His arms around me and I lay my head on His shoulder. For the first time in my life I felt complete, loved and content. We’re playing again tomorrow. I can’t wait.

As I read this testimony I can imagine a smile of approval on the face of God. The writer expresses a sense of child-like excitement about spending time with God. Like a small child looking forward to Christmas Day he can hardly contain himself. He can’t wait for the meeting and neither, I believe, can his heavenly Dad.

Prayer: Help me, Lord, to have expectancy and excitement in my heart as I spend time with you each day .In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
