For it is He (Jesus) who is the Yes to all of God`s promises. This is why through Jesus Christ our Amen is said to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20, GNB

I was recently in Northern Ireland and talking to my friend Jim. He and his wife Irene now manage the Ellel Ministries Centre at Ballyclare. Jim was explaining to me how he saw God`s promises of wholeness and freedom as being like a cheque book which Jesus has given to each one of us. This divine cheque book contains countless promises, all fully signed by Jesus. However, as with many business cheques, two signatures are required in order to be able to cash these particular divine cheques and so receive the precious payments. Each cheque needs the addition of our own signature, to complete the process, but many Christians fail to put their own name to all the amazing promises of restoration from God.

Here are some of the promises that were spoken out through the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 61) and which later became a resounding “Yes” through Jesus:

1. God has made an everlasting covenant with you.
2. God has defeated the enemy who is against you.
3. God has released you from those things that have a hold on you.
4. God has provided His comfort for you when you are in sorrow.
5. God has healed your broken-heart.
6. God has ended your shame and disgrace.
7. God has given you a joy that will last forever.
8. God has saved you from all that would harm you.

Have you and I signed our names on each of these cheques? Does each one have our agreement or “Amen”? There is an endless supply of promises but each requires our clear response in order for us to personally receive the full value of the payment that Jesus has made through the Cross.

Prayer: Father God, Your promises to mankind were all endorsed, affirmed and distributed at the Cross. Please show me how to put my name to each of Your divine cheques, so that I may appropriate every promise You have made for my wholeness and freedom, through Jesus Christ, Amen.
