Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Stepping into Our Authority

by David Cross

“Truly, truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing.”

In the Church today, do we believe these words of Jesus? Do we see sufficient of the reality of these words with regard to healing and deliverance in our day to day lives?

While my wife and I were chatting and praying recently with a dear brother and sister in Christ, we were led to the verse above. What a challenge! It seemed that the Lord was reminding us of the spiritual authority that He has delegated to every member of the Body of Christ, and that He was waiting for us to faithfully exercise that authority, so that the Holy Spirit could powerfully extend the restorative influence of God’s Kingdom.

We felt no condemnation from the Lord, but rather an encouragement to enter the fullness of all that He has invested into the covenant made with us through Jesus Christ. Jesus reminded His first disciples that He had been given all authority in heaven and on earth, and He instructed them to make more disciples, who would put into practice all that Jesus had commanded those first disciples (Matthew 28:18-20).

Down through the centuries, disciples have continued to make disciples, releasing them to walk in the same spiritual authority from Jesus that we see recorded in the Gospels and the Book of Acts.

Is it time now to confess that we have drawn back from the challenge of exercising the fullness of our covenant right, as children of God, to boldly preach the Kingdom of God and perform healing (Luke 9:11)?
