Shouting with Joy
by Sue Griffiths
When was the last time you ever shouted with joy? A shout! That takes me back many many years to when we all gathered at school to find out our ‘A’ level results – those all-important exams results, upon which depended all our hopes for the future. We would have sat our exams in June/July and then waited right through the summer, having already said our good-byes to staff and our friends at school. And then, at a magic date in September we would creep back to school to find out whether we had passed the exams and got the right grades to go on to whatever we had already planned for next steps in our careers. That magic place for further training was dependent on the grades we achieved.
Oh, the relief! The joy! The jubilation that we knew when we had that magic success!
We all have different moments of joy, affirmation, success, peacefulness, moments when we want to shout for joy! After a long wet and cold winter, I might even want to shout for joy to see the sunshine pouring into my home and snowdrops bursting open in the garden.
Did you know that God also delights over you and me- with singing! With joy!!
What is God saying about you and me? What is it that delights Him? When we come to Him in faith through all that His Son has done for us, I believe God is thrilled. He loves us. We are His kids and He delights in us. I have never thought before that God, the Almighty God, might actually be delighted, be singing with joy through the realms of heaven because we bring delight to Him.
But we can certainly shout for joy to our Great Heavenly Father, our Creator, our Saviour! He transforms our lives as we begin to live for Him; and know peace with Him through our Lord Jesus Christ. What a privilege that is!
