Nothing New Under the Sun

That which has been will be, that which is done, is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9, NKJV

King Solomon looked at all the circumstances and after much research into many subjects declared that after everything he had discovered in life and everything that had once been achieved, there was nothing new under the sun. But his conclusion was: ‘Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the entire duty of man’ (Ecclesiastes 12:13). This was true wisdom.

However, Jesus said, ‘Behold I make all things new’ (Revelation 21:5), and Paul said, ‘Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new’ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

I’ve discovered there are many new things for us in the Scriptures; new mercies (Lamentations 3:23), new plans (Jeremiah 29:11), new destiny (John 3:16), and a new name (Revelation 3:12).

What would you like to become new in your life? Whatever it is Jesus has promised that He’s able to make all things new, if you allow Him to be Lord of your life, and make your desires known to Him.

One of the most wonderful things that I’ve experienced from the Lord is a ‘new perspective’. This has turned the world the right way up for me. God’s view is so different from ours. He says, ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts’ (Isaiah 55:9.)

"I am a new creation, no more in condemnation,
Here in the Grace of God I stand.
My heart is overflowing, my love just keeps on growing,
Here in the Grace of God I stand.
And I will praise you Lord,
Yes I will praise you Lord –
And I will sing of all you’ve done.
A joy that knows no limit, a lightness in my spirit.
Here in the grace of God I stand."

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for all the exciting new things that You bring into my life. May I learn to know and love You more, in ever increasing new ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
