Nothing but the Truth

Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by me.
John 14.6. NKJ

A friend of mine has recently been called for jury service. He had to listen the Witnesses, the Prosecution and the Defence, and together with the jury, come to an agreement of the truth and conclude on the verdict. Everyone that stood in the witness stand had to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The case could not be discussed outside the jury room, and no one was even permitted to `Google`, or look up anything on the internet to do with the case. So the jury was dependent on their own judgement as to the truth.

Everyone would like to know the real Truth about God and yet many people, like Pilate, have no idea what truth is. In John 18:38 Pilate asked, “What is Truth?”

Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, He will guide us into all truth. (John 16.13. & 14.17.) We all desperately need this guidance, so that we will only walk in the paths of Truth and steer clear of deception, lies and wrong teaching. We must constantly ask the Holy Spirit to lead us, then we should obey Him. God`s Word is Truth and we need to pray that the Holy Spirit would apply His Word to our lives. The Truth of God is pure. (2 Timothy 2.15.)

If you are one searching for the Truth, you can only find it when you come to Jesus Christ, for he will send the Holy Spirit into your life who will reveal the Truth about God to you. Even little children can understand the Truth when God reveals himself to them.

God says, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29.13.) So we will find the Truth if we are serious in our searching. Our God is a righteous and fair Judge. His mercy outweighs his judgment. When we accept the Truth in Jesus and have our sin forgiven, the verdict will always be `not guilty`, in Gods` eyes.

" There`s a wideness in Gods mercy, Like the wideness of the sea;
There`s a kindness in His justice, Which is more than liberty.
For the love of God is broader, Than the measure of man`s mind;
And the heart of the Eternal, Is most wonderfully kind."

Frederick W. Faber.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to reveal the Truth to us. Please protect us and keep us from any vain lie or deception that would lead us away from you kindness and mercy. Keep us in your Truth. In Jesus` Name. Amen
