You will see your teacher with your own eyes. Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go’, whether to the right or to the left.
Isaiah 30:20-21, NLT

My husband and I have recently moved from the North West of England to another town in the east of England, which is nearly 300 miles away. It has been a massive adjustment for us both, getting used to a different home in a different place. But one of the things we really enjoy is being so near the sea. We can walk there in two or three minutes from our home.

We have been learning our way around the new town, and I was really excited when I was able to go out shopping alone and not get lost! Dean has been teaching me to find my way around. I find it difficult to understand if I am given directions and, therefore, I have to be shown where to go. So, Dean has been walking behind me. If I was doing okay, he didn’t say anything. But if I took a wrong turn, he would tell me. Gradually I have gained more confidence, and I love it when I make new discoveries.

The above verse describes how the Lord guides us. He will tell us when we are going off on a wrong path. But He is also right with us, holding our hand. In Isaiah 41:10 He says, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand”. Jesus tells us that He is with us always, and He is the Good Shepherd who goes out before His sheep and leads them. “He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out” (John 10:3). Also, God has put His Holy Spirit in us to guide us into all truth. What an amazing God we have! We are completely safe in His hands. He is watching us all the time.

For the first few weeks after we moved here, I was often feeling afraid and insecure, but it was a real comfort to know that the Lord was with me and that He was watching over my going out and my coming in. If you are facing a new situation in your life and are feeling fearful, the Lord will comfort and help you as you bring your needs to Him. He is the perfect counsellor.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank You that You have promised that You will never leave us or fail us in any way. I thank You that You are with me always and that I can turn to You for help at any time or any place. You are the Good Shepherd who leads me. Please teach me to trust You more when I feel anxious. I ask this for Your glory and in Your Name. Amen.
