Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

His Workmanship

by David Silvester

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10, NIV

On reading this phrase ‘For we are God’s workmanship’ in Ephesians 2:10 I found the study note that followed said this word ‘workmanship’ sometimes has the connotation of a ‘work of art’. Wow! With all the insecurities that attack us it’s good to reflect on what God actually sees when He looks at each and every one of us who’re born again into His family, who’re believers in Jesus. The Word of God reminds us of all that Jesus accomplished for us at Calvary. When God forgave us of ALL our sins He saw us as ‘Washed clean by the blood of Jesus’. In other words He now sees us as sinless! Hallelujah!

Yet we all have the experience of the devil reminding us of something in our past and using these things to haunt us and make us feel guilty. Well that’s when we can stand up against him and remind him of what happened when Jesus was on the cross and said ‘It is finished’. The work of salvation was complete, and we can say with the Apostle John, ‘The blood of Jesus God's Son cleanses me from all sin’ (1 John 1:7).

This is what has produced the ‘work of art’ in you and me - ‘the masterpiece’. In Christ God sees us as being ‘perfect’. This prompts me to respond with ‘Hallelujah, what a Saviour’. It was all done by Jesus. He’s changed me from a dirty lump of clay into a vessel of beauty which delights Father God.

Prayer: Father God, I thank You for all Jesus achieved in my life through His sacrificial death for me. I thank You that He’s made something pleasing to You out of the mess I was in. Please help me to understand and appreciate more clearly all this means. Help me to live my life so others recognise what You’ve done and give the glory to You. Amen.
