Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

God My Protector, Provider, and Ever-present Help

by Sue Dare

The Lord watches over you - the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:5-8, NIV

On my new phone I’ve downloaded a virus protection programme, which warns me of potential threats. I smile widely when I check my phone and a safety message fills the screen. It reads ‘Avast mobile security - You are safe.'

Obviously my virus protection can’t keep me safe from all dangers around me, but this message is a good reminder to me that God can, and has me covered on all sides. He indeed is the shade at my right hand.

This is a very comforting thought when you are over 10,000 miles from home, living in a land of 'foreign speech' and unfamiliar customs. Recently God has also been reminding me that I can also be assured of His presence and His provision.

How comforting to know that He is with us, wherever we go and hasn’t left us to fend on our own. He’s given His angels charge over us, to protect us in all our ways (Psalm 91:11), and promises to provide for our every need, according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

All we need to do is stay vitally united to Him (John 15) and acknowledge Him in all our ways. (Proverbs 3:5-6). That can be a struggle sometimes, as life contains so many distractions, which can pull us away from God and cause us to depend on our own strength.

I do believe though, that if our heart is to walk with God, He’ll keep on nudging our focus back in His direction. I don't know about you, but I’m so grateful that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is also my God!

Prayer: Thank You, God, that You want me to be assured of Your presence, Your provision and Your protection. I look to You today, and say thank You that You’re my God! To You, and You alone, be all glory, honour and praise. Amen.
