God can create something new

This is what God the LORD says— the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it.
Isaiah 42:5, NIV

Have you ever thought about this – that one of our many sources of hope is that our God is a creator. That means that he can make something new that was not there before.

In Malachi 3:6, the Lord reminds Israel that ‘I the LORD do not change’. And the writer to the Hebrews says the same: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The book of James repeats it: the Father of the heavenly lights does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17).

Remember the very first words written in the Bible: ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth’ (Genesis 1:1). As we have seen, God Himself says that He does not change. So what does that mean for us? It means that if the Lord has created something out of nothing before, then He can do it again. He does not change.

What is it that you really need? I mean really. You really need it.
Have you given up hope that your real need can be met? Have you made your own assessment and concluded that it’s too difficult – even God can’t bring into being something which is not there?

The good news is that God can indeed bring into being things which are not currently in existence. Have you been saying “there are no jobs” or “there are no answers” or “there is no-one to be my friend or my spouse” or “there is no hope”?

Our hope is in the Lord, and He is a creator. He is still creating new things. What do you need? Have you asked Him to create it?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You created me. You know me, and You know my needs. I bring my biggest need before You now. Amen.
