Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

As the Sun’s Brilliance

by Pam Smith

Those who are wise – the people of God – shall shine as brightly as the sun’s brilliance and those who turn many to righteousness will glitter like stars forever.
Daniel 12:3, LB

The words of Daniel are sealed until the end of days. There is no fear about the end of time in those who are kept pure and ready for the Lord’s return. The wise will understand God’s time and the signs He shows them. His wisdom, a gift of the Holy Spirit, is given to them. Pray their witness will shine out like the sun and stars to turn many to righteousness. Those who are wise will be ready and waiting for the Lord’s return, like the wise virgins, whose lamps were filled and ready to welcome the Bridegroom (Matthew 25:4)

There will be those who don’t believe the Lord will return and they will ask, ‘where is the promise of His coming?’ (2 Peter 3:4). But the Bible tells us ‘The Lord is not slack concerning his promise’ (2 Peter 3:9). Yet many in the Church today are not alert or aware of the second coming. Many don’t talk about it. Many don’t preach about it. Many don’t believe it. Many are not ready for it. But Knowing He is coming again will keep us on our toes. This future hope will keep us pure. He is coming in power and glory to set up a kingdom that will never pass away.

Let’s be lights brilliantly shining, pointing others to the truth. How can we hold this beautiful hope in our hearts without sharing it with those who are walking in darkness? They’re without the hope that the risen Saviour brings. We need to share it with them and encourage them.

I believe Zechariah is the prophet for this age. His book is full of signs of the second coming of Christ Jesus. In Chapter 12:l0, he prophesies that ‘they will look on Him whom they have pierced’. When Jesus returns, everyone will know it. We don’t know the exact time but we can be prepared, ready and looking.

Living He loved me, Dying He saved me,
Buried He carried my sins far away.
Rising He justified freely forever,
One day He’s coming, Oh glorious Day!
(J. Wilbur Chapman)

Prayer: Our Father, help us to be the wise ones and to look for Your coming. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
