Pray In the Spirit at All Times

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere”
Ephesians 6:18, NLT

In his letters the apostle Paul often urges Christian believers to pray for all believers everywhere. “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere” (Ephesians 6:18).

These days I am constantly receiving news about desperate situations around the world that I should be praying about. I receive this news first-hand from my brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus, both those whom I know in my church, and in Ellel Ministries, so it is not just through the public news channels and social media.

It can be quite challenging to even understand these situations and how they are causing so much anxiety and distress to our fellow believers. And yet we also get wonderful testimonies about God`s protection and provision in the midst of danger.

Earlier in Ephesians Chapter 6, Paul says: “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil” (Ephesians 6:10-11).

The times we live in seem to be full of the strategies of the devil, and I understand we need to have courage to stand firm against them.

Fourteen years ago, in a small group, someone spoke out a prophecy and wrote it out for us all to keep. I found it recently when looking through my old journals. It is quite long, but certain words stand out for me as if they were written for today. “My people will be a marvel to many as the world looks on and sees them at peace in the midst of so much turmoil. In the days when man does not have the answers, my people will be at peace, because I will give them the answers and they will know My rest and peace. For my people live in an unshakeable kingdom that cannot be affected by the will of man. Do not be distressed by the trouble that is around you but keep your focus on Me and know that I will make provision for you, no matter what the circumstances are.”

The writer of the Book of Hebrews says this: “When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain” (Hebrews 12:26-27).

So how can we be at peace? The writer of Hebrews goes on to tell us it is by worshipping God the Father, keeping our eyes on Jesus, and praying in the Spirit. “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire” (Hebrews 12:28-29).
