Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
Jeremiah 17:14, NIV

I've had the privilege of being brought up in a Christian family, and as a child remember many trips in the car to the sound of praise and worship music in the 1980’s! As I heard all these songs I noticed that there were two things which people seemed to be asking or praying for all the time, but seldom got. These things are personal healing and revival of the Church or nation. My simple childish mind wondered why half the songs were saying how great God is and the other half were asking for things He never seemed to give!

These things seemed wrong to me, and didn’t add up. But as I’ve matured I’ve come to look back on these childish thoughts as precious. Often adults become restricted in their thinking by the cares of life and learn to compromise, so they can avoid conflicts in their belief system. But O how God loves true child-like inquisitiveness and seeking of truth, no matter what our age!

I understand now that as opposed to ‘fast food’ style healing, where our problems are just magically taken away (only to be replaced by new ones before long), God desires for us to come to a multiple course banquet with Him - called discipleship. As surrender to Him penetrates deeper into our lives He’s able to bless us with true healing, true freedom and true joy. As more individuals accept this personal revival, revival of the Church and the nations will follow as a matter of consequence. If I hadn’t held on to my thoughts and questions about the reality of God I don’t think I would ever have learnt this truth.

So today, I encourage you to put away any intimidation from theology, thoughts of compromise and 'it doesn't matter' and seek the truth from God for those questions you have about Him with child like simplicity. He will delight to give you truth and revelation. I had to wait a few years for the above understanding to come but I'm so glad I did!

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that You delight in me and care about my understanding. I want to be in reality about You and Your Kingdom. Please help me to remember any questions I have put away unanswered and express them to You afresh now in full and certain hope that You will answer them and You care about what I think. Thank You that my inquisitiveness brings You joy! May Your Kingdom come in my life today, in Jesus' name, Amen.
